Last week I started this incredible photography class “The Magic of Light” by Summer Murdock. She is definitely one of those individuals that I want to take off my shoes and curl my feet under me while relaxing on the couch with her. A cup of coffee or tea in our hands and we are catching up on the beauty of this world. She is inspiring. She has a profound way of capturing the breathable life around us. This class focuses on light and how we see light around us with our eyes; furthermore, capturing that light within my canon camera. I’m digging the technical aspect of this class and how Summer Murdock is purposefully pushing me (and my camera) to capture more pictures. The images above are a few that I took during the first week of class. These images are not perfect; however, they do have a purpose for me as I am growing in my knowledge as an artist. My heart beeps quickly with excitement and squashes any fear of mistakes so that I may continue to grow, and evolve, as a photographer for families, babies, children, and seniors in Tallahassee, Florida.
Thoughts on my images
Life and Light are connected just like; death and darkness, color and black & white, our smiles and tears, the beginning of growth, like the brussels sprouts, and the end (or purpose) when we consume the sprouts. The connection between the top of the stairs and the bottom with light and life between. The old tree stump that has been chopped down for firewood; displays new growth within. The connection that light makes within us, between us, and around us is the meaning of life! The light encourages me to gravitate forward even when darkness has a figure pulling me back. What a magnificent world we live in!
