Ring. Ring. Ring.
If I listen hard enough, I can still hear the bell ringing that would relinquish us each school day. Those aggressively loud school bells sent everyone into a commotion. Papers being shuffled, the quiet hum of backpacks being zipped, and the herd of students making their way to the buses and cars. As for the 13-year-old shy me, I didn’t have to move so quickly. My mom was down the hall in her 8th-grade classroom. I entered her classroom, noticing the unsymmetrical individual student chairs and my mom, creatively helping a student with an algebra problem. Mom gracefully looked up at me with her welcoming smile. I started straightening up the askew chairs and moving toward the stack of papers that mom always had me help grade! Oh, how I loved helping her in the classroom.

Coming from a line of teachers in my family; the school years, teachers, and learning have a special place in my heart. I didn’t follow my mom's or sister’s path of becoming a teacher, but I have a similar love for children. A passion for recognizing their innate personalities, a desire to freeze them in an image that their loved ones can cherish, and a genuine love for getting to know the next generation. Like most loves and passions, in 2022, I merged my love for children and my passion for photography into my “Simple. Special. School” Fine Art Portraits for local Tallahassee and surrounding preschools, elementary schools, and middle schools.
Simple. Special. School. Is a fresh, easy, photography approach to “Picture Day”. My passion and mission are to change up the stiff smiles and uncomfortable poses of school pictures and replace them with a relaxed environment that showcases each student as they are. My approach is simple for both the school and parents. Here are just a few benefits:
1 - MMP will provide all equipment and personnel needed for photo day.
2 - MMP will work closely with the school for student details beforehand, day of workflow, and flyers/email content for the school to send out to parents.
3 - The BEST Part, parents can select their favorite image(s) of their child, in an easy-to-maneuver online, password protected, gallery, and order prints and/or digital files.
4 - Communication regarding prints and ordering will all be taken care of by MMP.
5 - Prints will be delivered to schools and organized by Teacher/Grade.
Using a local photographer for “school pictures” is a powerful way of supporting small businesses! Relationships and community have always been so important to me. I have lived in Tallahassee, Florida since 2000 and have grown to love and appreciate local businesses! My heart loves to give back and I am giving 10% of gross sales back to the school as a “thank you” for trusting and using Marlo Moody Photography as your local school photographer!
